Bioinformatics and biophysics
The hallmark of the team is the development of both theoretical and experimental researches, aiming at understanding the structural basis of function and evolution of biomolecules. At the theoretical level, we perform methodological developments, focused on sequence and structure analysis, as well as on image analysis and processing. These developments are accompanied by a large and strong expertise in bioinformatics, modeling and molecular dynamics simulations, which allow us to address key issues in biology, with a particular impact in the medical and environmental fields. At the experimental level, our activity is focused on the understanding of complex or novel biological systems, for which we combine different biophysical and biochemical approaches.
