Deciphering the mechanisms involved in the hyperaccumulation of alkaline earth metals by cyanobacteria
The Harley project aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of intracellular biomineralization of alkaline earth carbonates by cyanobacteria. It will focus on determining the function of an unknown gene found specifically in cyanobacteria.
The project involves four partners: the Institute of Mineralogy, Physics of Materials and Cosmochemistry (coord. Karim Benzerara; BIBIP and BIOMIN teams), the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Eukaryotes (coord. Julien Henri),the Institute of Intégrative Cell Biology (coord. Corinne Cassier-Chauvat) and the Institute of Biosciences and Biotechnologies of Aix-Marseille (coord. Catherine Berthomieu).
